My Ventures Adventures

Hello Stacey here, stwhitney
(Allowedtoroam)

Yukon Territory is still pretty much a wilderness, it has wide open spaces with lots of beautiful lakes and mountains. All of the lakes have great fishing, you can catch trout from 60lbs to about 70lbs. My biggest catch was just roughly around 16lbs, but believe me I came home a Happy Camper and Fisher.

For the most part there are just small villages that are miles apart with beautiful lakes and mountains between. The wild life there is very majestic Elk, Moose, Deer, Bison, Caribou and of course Black Bear, Grizzly, Dall Sheep, Mountain Sheep and Mountain Goat.

Then of course there was the Gold Rush of the late 1800's in Dawson City. It is now a tourist town with a population of about 400 souls. During the summer months it cater's to approximately 150 to 200 thousand tourist from all over the world. The Liard and Takhini Hot Springs are a treat for all, in both summer and winter.

There are some things still there from the Gold Rush days. The theater still has the gas lights and other relics. The boardwalks, resturants and bars all tell the tale of the old days. You can still pan for Gold and at times you will still get some gold dust from the sluice.

Diamond Tooth Gertie's Casino is very much alive with it's Chorus Girls and Can Can Dancers. There is something for everyone in the Yukon, I would say it is one of the most facinating places in Canada to visit for those who like history and life. You will get to meet the kindest people with with the warmest hearts.

Until next time (may the rest of your life be the best of your life)
Kindest regards,
Stacey, stwhitney
